Back at work in a new year. It was cold this morning (11° F), but no new snow through the night (although, there was a dusting of snow in the mid-afternoon). The temperature, along with the direct sunlight, rose sufficiently to melt most of the snow from yesterday. And of course, the onset of a pressure change - more wind.
Overcast and cold (20° F) this morning, with snow beginning by 8am. Winds calm. Winter storm advisory in effect until 5am the following morning. I add more bird feed to the tube feeders, along with black oil sunflower seeds to the mesh feeder, and plug in the heater for the fountain to keep the water flowing. Still mostly Juncos, and miscellaneous smaller birds. No Jays. I like snow storms that are silent - no wind. A walk in the woods will do the mind good, as it will dos perros.
Happy New Year!
A clear and sunny, but windy morning. Winds coming out of the WNW averaging at about 20 MPH with a mild temperature of 45° F. I've added the local weather information to the Weather Underground as another venue for observations. I really doubt anyone will look there either.
I recently bit the bullet and purchased a new desktop system. My first inclination was to lay out a lot of cash for an Apple iMac or MacPro, but I found a deal through COSTCO that could not be turned down - a ZT (what?) mini-tower with an Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz Quad Core processor, along with 4Gb of DD2 SDRAM, an NVIDIA GeForce 7050 graphics chipset, and a 500Gb internal hard drive, all for the low price of $600.
